The BJP is set to cross the majority mark along with its ally Shiv Sena in Maharashtra with 159 leads and wins out of 288 seats. The Majority mark in Maharashtra is 145 and BJP Shiv Sena alliance is set set to cross the majority mark. However, BJP-Shiv Sena has got 27 seats less than the seats it got in the previous state elections which were held in 2014.
In Haryana, the party fell far short of its target as it led in only 40 of 90 seats. The Congress was leading in 32 of Haryana's 90 seats, giving a close fight to the BJP, which led in 40 seats. The Congress surprised itself in Haryana today as it seemed to have pulled off an unexpected double-figure tally in the BJP-ruled state. The counting of votes threw up the possibility of a fractured verdict, leaving the party in with a chance of coming to power with support from Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janata Party (JJP).
Mr Hooda, sidelined for a long time as a much younger Ashok Tanwar led the Haryana Congress, was back in the saddle in September, when Sonia Gandhi replaced Mr Tanwar with Kumari Selja. Reports suggested the Hoodas were in touch with Dushyant Chautala, projected as a kingmaker in the event of a close fight.
PM Modi said said " I Thank people of Haryana and Maharashtra for blessing us."

I laud the efforts of hardworking @BJP4Haryana Karyakartas who toiled extensively and went among the people to elaborate on our development agenda," PM Modi tweeted.
